Potentiometric Titration of Total Acid Number (TAN)

Analysis outlining the potentiometric titration process to determine acidic constituents in petroleum products and lubricants with the total acid number (TAN) as the quantity of base. TAN is expressed in milligrams of potassium hydroxide required to neutralize all acidic constituents present in 1 g of sample. The analysis is performed using the Schott Instruments TitroLine 7000 Advanced Titrator or TitroLine 7750 Multi Parameter Titrator. Note: Ready to use solutions are recommended.
