Titration for Total Hardness in Drinking Water

Analysis outlining the titration method for determination of the total hardness in drinking water. The total hardness is the sum of calcium and magnesium hardness. The procedure is performed using the Schott Instruments TitroLine 6000 Routine Titrator TitroLine 7000 Advanced Titrator, or TitroLine 7750 Multi Parameter Titrator. Note: It is possible to titrate the Ca- and Mg hardness with a Ca-ISE electrode as two equivalence points (EQs) in one titration; however, we recommend using the more robust Cu-ISE for the determination of total hardness.
