Shape Analysis with LaPaSS
Features overview
The information contained in the diffraction images can be used not only for determination of the particle size but also for particle shape analysis. The analysette 22 NanoTec and MicroTec are the only instruments in the world with which both particle size distribution and particle shape can be analysed in a single measurement.
Unlike the simply spherically particles, non-spherical particles display a diffraction image, that beside a radial intensity distribution also in an azimuthal direction displays a significant structure. This azimuthal variation of intensity can be used for form analysis.
Due to the unique possibility of adjustment of the measuring cell in the convergent beam, it is positioned during the particle size analysis in a manner so that the first diffraction maximum of the scattered light of medium sized particles hit the form sensitive area of the detector which are specially dimensioned for this task.. A special in LaPaSS integrated evaluation routine determines then the elongation ratio of the particles.

32-Bit Software
The program enables the execution of the measurements, the control of the measuring unit and the representation of the measuring results in consideration of different options.
