Revolutionary Solution: Dual-Laser Technology
In the FRITSCH ANALYSETTE 22 MicroTec plus, a semiconductor laser with green light carries out the measurement of small particles while an infrared-semiconductor laser handles large particle size ranges. Both lasers can be optimally aligned extremely quickly and independently of each other through lateral motion. To switch to measurement of small particles in the short-wavelength green laser, the detector and the laser source are simply moved as a unit - the measuring cell remains fixed in place.
Your advantage: the ideal wavelength for every particle size and an ideal combination of large measuring range, outstanding resolution and small footprint that distinguish the ANALYSETTE 22 MicroTec plus from other instruments. With redirection of the long-wavelength red laser beam, the ANALYSETTE 22 MicroTec plus allows for maximum measurement precision even for large particles within a compact unit. Brilliant FRITSCH idea!
The ANALYSETTE 22 MicroTec plus fascinates with an unachieved union of extra-wide measuring range, high resolution and sensitivity, marginal space requirements and a reasonable price.
The modular built ANALYSETTE MicroTec plus consists of a central measuring unit for the angular aperture measuring of the scattered light intensity and different dispersion modules, which can be exchanged quickly and simply without tools. Hereby it is without any problems possible to adjust the entire system at a later date to possibly new requirements of the dispersion.
The particle size area covered by the measuring unit reaches from 0.08 µm (80nm) up to 2000 µm.
The typical areas of application
The Laser particle measuring instrument ANALYSETTE 22 MicroTec plus, is an universally applicable instrument for the determination of the particle size distribution of samples in powder form, solids in suspensions and of emulsions.
The instrument is suitable for the utilization in quality and process control. Due to the highly flexible programmability of the entire dispersion and measuring process, it is also very apt for research and development.
The Technology
The larger measuring range is achieved by using two lasers with different wave lengths. A green, linear polarized 7mW-Laser with 521nm wavelength is used in the area of fine particles, whereas a second fibre-coupled IR-laser (Wavelength: 940nm) with also 7mW performance, is used for measuring larger grains.
Additionally, the angular range of the diffracted respectively scattered laser light, can be adjusted to the detector through the for FRITSCH typical movable measuring cell.
With large particles a large distance between the measuring cell and the detector is selected, so that the here typical small diffraction angles may still be detected very well. With fine and very fine powders, a small measuring cell detector-distance should be selected and obtains by this, optimal conditions for the measuring of large scattering angles. This is the trick which leads to a high resolution and an exceptional sensitivity. More details here.
By the means of a folded optical path, a compact design is achieved and by the adept arrangement of the measuring cell, a fast and safe switch of the selectable measuring ranges.
The as a cassette developed measuring cell allows the simple, tool-free exchange between two different dispersion units, as well as the comfortable cleaning of the measuring cell.

Wet Dispersion Unit
Variable Volume
The wet dispersion unit consists of a closed liquid circuit with a volume of approximately 300, 400 or 500 ml, which can be adjusted via software.
Powerful Pump
A high performance, adjustable radial pump, transports the liquid with a pump rate of 5,5 l/min, maximum, through the circuit, so that with 500 ml volume, the entire circuit is moved more than ten times per minute. This high performance pump allows the transport of even larger particles even with a high density for example tungsten carbide, and assists in a fast and efficient distribution of the sample material in the entire circuit, which is an advantage for a stable measurement. Additionally, the high performance pump contributes in the breaking up of the particle agglomerates since the appearing speed gradients in the liquid, pump energy into the particle systems, which then lead to the breaking apart of the agglomerates. An additional agitator is therefore for the wet dispersion unit of the ANALYSETTE 22 Micro Tec plus not necessary.
Variable Ultrasonic
For the further increase of the dispersion possibility of the unit, a performance variable ultra sound applicator is integrated.
Fully Programmable
Full custom programmability, of the pump parameters and also the ultra sound performance and ultra sound duration prior to the start of the actual measurement, allow a targeted and exact reproducibility dispersion of even difficult sample materials.
Used Materials
The entire dispersion unit consists of premium materials. Parts in contact with the sample circuit consist of BK 7 glass, stainless steel and viton. Basically the use of the most prevalent organic solvents in wet dispersion becomes possible.
Connections
Ideally for the wet dispersion unit is a connection to an existing fresh and waste water supply (10 mm adapter), whereas a fully automatic flushing of the system after a measurement becomes possible. The flushing routine, as well as the desired amount of liquid to be filled into the unit, can be adjusted via software.
If a sufficient water supply at the work station for the unit does not exist, then with the 24V adapter of the dispersion unit, an external pump can be utilized. From a separate tank, the liquid then can be pumped into the dispersion unit.

Small Volume Wet Dispersion Unit
Many laboratories have samples which for the particle size determination have to be measured in organic dispersion fluids rather than water, whereas the use of the solvents should be minimized as much as possible.
Often only a small amount of sample material is available. Then a dispersion unit for samples of a small volume makes sense in order to limit the use of samples to a minimum and at the same time to take advantage of a pump, agitation and circulating system.
Type of dispersion
Wet, suspension volume approximately 100 ml.
Dispersion mechanism
Freely adjustable centrifugal pump unit.
Operation
Manual operation of the pump via a control dial on the dispersion unit. SOP’s in the MaS control software contain the corresponding prompts for the measurement of defined samples and ensure the reproducibility of the measurement. Manual filling, emptying and cleaning.
Typical areas of application
Water soluble products, pharmaceutical products, chemicals, food, and emulsions.
Compatibility with solvents
The circulation system consists of the following materials: stainless steel, viton, as well as Bk7 glass, and are resistant to all common solvents.
